Alfalfa Herb - (Medicago sativa

A sweet astringent, cooling herb that cleanses toxins from the tissues, controls bleeding, stimulates appetite, lowers cholesterol, and is diuretic. It acts mainly on the circulatory and urinary systems, and influences hormones. Use internally for anemia, hemorrhage, menopausal complaints, PMS, fibroids, and other conditions suggesting hormonal imbalance. High is chlorophyll, beta carotene, and vitamin K.

Because of its deep root system, Alfalfa is better able to absorb minerals from the soil than other plants.  Therefore, Alfalfa is a rich source of vitamins and minerals, as well as Chlorophyll.  It has been used historically for arthritis and as a blood purifier. The leaves and seeds are thought to have diuretic properties and to be effective in treating diabetes, thyroid gland malfunction, arthritis, high cholesterol and peptic ulcers and to promote menstruation and lactation . It is also a popular treatment for asthma and hay fever. The herb is claimed to be a source of vitamins A, C, E and K and of the minerals calcium, potassium, phosphorus and iron, can lower cholesterol levels in humans.
