Bayberry, Liquid Extract Myrica cerifera
In the 19th century, herbalists recommended Bayberry bark tea for colds, flu, other infectious diseases, diarrhea, and fever. This herb has tonic, stimulant, and astringent properties. Taken in large doses, this herb has an emetic (vomiting) effect. Bayberry is used to improve circulation, promote perspiration, boost the immune system, and ward off infections. The dried bark in an infusion, can be used to treat colds, flu, fever, coughs, sore throats, and can also be used to treat excess vaginal discharge. Bayberry helps reduce symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and mucous colitis. This herb is used to increase circulation, promote sweating, and help prevent bacterial infections. Bayberry can also be used topically to treat skin infections, skin disease, and ulcers.
